Google Webmaster Tool – Step by Step guide to Add Websites/Blogs

You just launch a site or blog? you need to register your site or blog with Google webmaster tool to easily manage the Google search engine.

You can add sitemaps of your sites here as well as check the number of pages submitted and indexed to Google.

You can also check the top search queries and back links to your sites.

Let me guide you to add your site/blog to Google webmaster tool.

Step 1: Go to http://www.google.com/webmasters/ and sign in with your Gmail username and password. In case you do not have gmail username password, click on create new account.

Step 2: On the home page Click on Add a Site button, Enter the website/blog name. and enter the continue button.

Step 3: Once you click on continue a Owner verification screen come up. just verify your ownership for the website or blog by these any of these 3 methods:

1. By meta tags – add meta tags into your website or blog header and then click on verify buttons.

2. By upload HTML file – Here you need to upload a file given by Google on your blog/site root directory.

3. By Changing DNS Entry – you need to change DNS entries from domain name buyer account.

Lets take a example to verify your site or blog by meta tags. copy the meta tags generated by webmaster and paste this tag on your site blog header between <head> and </head> tags.

Congrats you successfully added your site/blog to Google webmaster tool.

How to Manage/Configure Google Related Link Gadget

Google related link gadget is very useful tool for bloggers and website owners. Its add a functionality to show related link for the current page and increase the page views.

Let me help you through step by step process to add Google related link gadget to your blog site.

Prerequisites: to get a Google related link gadget you need to separately apply for this gadget. for more details, Please visit to How to Get Related Links for Blogger/Websites

Step 1: Go to http://relatedlinks.googlelabs.com/ and sign in with your Gmail user id and password.

Step 2: Click on Manage Related Links

Step 3: Click on create a new related Links gadget

Step 4: Now fill the information below:

Name – Basically site name, to easily find out.

Domain – Domain name of site/blog

Language – specify language

Number of links – choose as per your requirement.

and other formatting options. just arrange as per you requirement. There is advance options also, if you like you can arrange those also.

Step 5: Click on Save button.

No from manage related links you can click on get code link and get the code. Now to to your blogger code or go to your website code and paste it.

I blogger you can add it in HTML block.

How to Get Related Links for Blogger/Websites

Google provide a service to add a widget to show related articles (related pages) from their site. This Gadget helps webmaster to increase their page views and revenue.

Blogger directly do not support related page gadget. To get a Google related link gadget you need to separately apply for the same. This gadget is applicable to your site as well as on your blog account also.

Lets follow step by step procedure to apply for Related link gadget and manage it in your blogger account.

Step 1: send mail to relatedlinks@google.com specifying Gmail address, domain name of websites and blogs and approximate page views.

Step 2: Once you apply for related link gadget, it will take approximately 1.5 months to get a mail detailing your approving status. It took around 1.5 months in my case.

step 3: Once you receive the approval for Google related link gadget. This Gadget will be added in your related link account. To login in your related link account, go to http://relatedlinks.googlelabs.com/ and sign in with your Gmail user id and password.

How to Check Name Server for a Domain Name/Website

Name Servers are the most useful property of a domain name, It indicates the website hosting servers. For Example i have hosted my domain name “BharatPad.com” at godaddy.com then it will show the name servers of godaddy server.

Lets follow step by step procedure to find the name servers of domain name and website.

Step 1: Go to http://Who.is, enter your domain name/website. for example in my case it is http://BharatPad.com. Click on search button.

Step 2: After searching you can find all the allocated name servers under heading “Name Servers” as shown in figure below.

How to Get DNS Setting for a Domain Name

Now if you own a domain name and you would like to check domain name DNS (Domain Name System) Record for the same. Normally not all the sites provide all the details related to DNS. Let me guide you step by step to get full DNS details.

Step 1: Go to http://who.is and enter your domain name for example i entered http://BharatClick.com Click on Who.is Search.

Step 2: Now Search Results appeared, Click on DNS Records tab.

Step 3: Go to BharatClick.com DNS Record Section. you can check here all DNS related details. like A record, Cname and MX records.

Step 5: To check Name Servers, go to BharatClick.com Name Servers Sections. here you can find all the name server of you domain. Please note that changing name server takes max 48 hours to reflect here.

How to book .in Domain Name in India

The domain name are cheap now days and every one can buy a domain name with few dollars only. .Com’s are very popular domains and used to represent globally. Most of the .com domains are booed. But if you are running a business in India only then you can go for .in or .co.in which is easily available.

Here is the step by step procedure to book a .in domain name.

Step 1: Go to Buy a .in Domain

Step 2: Enter the domain name and check the .in checkbox. Like i have entered myfoodbusiness. Click on Search Now.

Step 3: Search results appeared and showing that myfoodbusiness.in is available along with some other suggestions. now select the myfoodbusiness.in domain and click on add to cart.

Step 4: Create account window appears, Now register and make the payment. Once you pay the amount all is done.

Step 5: if you want to select any other domain, click on the domain and click the button “Add these to my shopping cart” otherwise just click on No thanks proceed further.

Step 6: Select the number of years and click on continue. if you want to protest your privacy, check the checkbox.

Step 7: check the agreement and click on proceed to payment.

How to Book Hindi Domain Names

You can book your favorite Hindi domain in very nominal price. Hindi domain names are now available in same cost as standard English domains are.

So lets follow step by step procedure to register the domain name:

Step 1: Go to http://Name.com (If you know any other registrar who provide Hindi domain facility, you can use your own)

step 2: type the Hindi name in Search box.

if you do not have type facility just go to Google Translator and write your English name and convert it into Hindi. Now copy this translated name and paste in search box.

Step 3: Search the domain name.

Step 4: Search results appeared and परीक्षा.com is not available, now either search for another domain name or if you like परीक्षा.net(which is available) you can book it. just by selecting and making payment.

One thing i don't like about Hindi domains is that it redirect to some English domain like when you open परीक्षा.com it redirect to http://xn--11b5bs3a9aj6g.com/.
