If you bought a HP/Compaq laptop/notebook during August 2007 to May 2008, it may be the case that your laptop battery is defected one. HP started a program to replace the laptop batteries which are defected.
In case if you do not replace the batteries, you can face overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. So try to replace the battery as soon as possible.
To check that you battery is defected or not. just go to the hp site and enter your laptop and battery model number and you will get to know that your battery is defected or. not.
if you find your laptop battery is in defected peace, you can let the HP know and they will replace the battery.
